With the New York Auto Show in full swing, Mini brought their all new Mini Countryman to the party to be unveiled to the world for the first time. And just as we suspected, the new Coutryman is as great as its predecessor.

At first glance, one might think “have they actually changed anything?”. Well the answer to that question will be yes, they have. although not that apparent, the changes to the Mini Countryman are good, and will  no doubt please any existing Mini fan.

The exterior almost looks exactly the same. However, upon further inspection, one can see the slight (yet thoroughly effective) design changes on the Mini’s outer shell.

For instance, the grille is now presented in a more hexagonal shape. The new Countryman also features LED fog lights as well as DLR’s. Definitely a welcome change.

For the wheels, there is an option of either 16 or 17-inch alloys, and in it’s entirety new paint colors have also been made available. Perhaps the most striking of them all being the featured, ‘Jungle Green Metallic’, which sits quite well on the Countryman’s frame.

On the inside, however, more changes are present. Of course, as it is with any new model, the tech has been updated. In the current digital world that we live in it is imperative for car manufacturers to keep up to date with the latest tech and trends for cars and their infotainment systems.

Mini has definitely done that for the Countryman.  With updated instrumentation and an update on the Mini Connected Infotainment system, the new Countryman will offer any 21st century driver their tech needs on a silver platter.

Small design changes include a chrome switchgear.

The Mini One Countryman is also a bit more powerful. The car features 98 horsepower, and a 1.6 liter four-pot. As for the Mini Cooper Countryman S, this one has also been upgraded in the power department. The Cooper S now has 190 horsepower. At the top of the range is the John Cooper Works – this Countryman serves out a whopping 218 horsepower with a twin-turbo engine. All of them are available in either a six-speed manila transmission or automatic.

It really is a stunning little car. While the Countryman might be a bit more beefy than the original Mini Cooper, it sure holds up in the looks department – and let’s not forget that power!
