Cubi: The Coolest Way for Kids to Communicate

We don’t mean to sound whiney, but the Cubi is proving that kids tech is getting waaay cooler than adult tech.

Are our kids getting the coolest new tech innovations and are us adults missing out?

This may well be the case with the invention of the Cubi, a brand new Star Trek like Communicator that’s just been launched for kids.

What is it? The Cubi is a Smartwatch that has communicates via voice messages. Designed mainly for kids to communicate with their parents without a mobile phone, Cubi users can also message other Cubi-using kids. It also features GPS tracking so that parents can keep tabs on where their kid is, plus it has an instant emergency alert on-board for scary situations.

Why Would My Kid Like It? Firstly, the interface is cool. It’s available in four colours, can be worn like a watch and it has a cute robot ‘face’ that can express emotion. Secondly, kids can walk around talking into their wrist like some super spy. Thirdly, kids can ‘add friends’ to their Cubi by simply bumping each other’s Cubi’s together – like doing a high five - meaning that they can then send secret-squirrel voice messages to their mates when they like.

Why Would I Like It? It’s not a mobile phone!!! And, it’s water repellent!

Oh, and the GPS tracking could be really handy when transitioning to that bit in a kid’s life when they need to have more independence, plus the emergency alert is great for peace of mind. Plus, the Cubi is automatically linked to your smartphone, and kids can only ‘add friends’ by parental approval – meaning your kids won’t be able to voice message anyone they don’t know.

Age Range? Kids aged 3 – 10 years.

Tech Specs: The Cubi app will be available for iOS and Android.

Where Can I Get One? Currently the Cubi is in the first stages of a Kickstarter campaign, you can get your hands on one by pledging $99 or more.
