Does The Sleep IQ Bed Take Tech Too Far?

Experts say we need to keep our tech gadgets out of our bedrooms.

But they obviously didn’t tell the makers of the Sleep IQ Kids Bed.

In one of the most publicised products from the latest Consumer Electronics Show, the Sleep IQ Bed is a normal looking kids bed that is actually riddled with technology designed to let parents track their kids sleeping habits.

The bed monitors your kids sleeping patterns including heart rate, breathing and movement. This information is supposed to help parents with their kids ‘sleeping schedule’.

But really, is it going to help parents? Apart from the very worst cases of sleepers, isn’t this bed just going to turn parents into insomniac worriers? The bed will actually send an alert to parents when their kid is either out of bed or is moving a lot. Which for many parents could mean multiple wake ups a night!

Do you think the tech-trend of tracking and analysing our kids is making us into a bunch of crazy helicopter parents? Or do you think this information is helpful?
