Mercedes AMG-GT unveiled

AMG GT

Mercedes has just unveiled the AMG-GT – a new flagship model that was entirely developed by AMG and boy, is this a seriously sexy car!

This is also the first time Mercedes has dropped the ‘Benz’ from the name, emphasising the fact that it very much belongs to the brains over at AMG. Not that that is an issue at all, we are thrilled to finally lay our eyes on this anticipated car.

The AMG-GT sportscar was designed to compete with the Jaguar F-Type and the Porsche 911. And, by the looks of things, both Jaguar and Porsche should be sitting on the edge of their seats because there is no doubt that this car is one serious competitor.

First things first – the power (because really what else could be more important?).

The Mercedes AMG-GT is available in 2 different models. Firstly, there is the standard GT. This model sports a twin turbo, 4.0 V8 engine that produces 456 horsepower and 443 kb-ft of torque. It can go from 0 – 100 in 4.0 seconds and has a top speed of 304km/h.

The big brother of the Mercedes AMG-GT is called the AMG-GT S. This model is ever so slightly more powerful. It produces 503 horsepower and 479 kb-ft of torque. It can go from 0 – 100 in 3.8 seconds and ha a top speed of 310km/h.

As for the outside, the car screams sportscar in all it’s elements.

From the chrome grille and electronically controlled rear spiller, to the aluminium ‘space frame’ chassis, every thing looks as good as you would of expected.

The Mercedes AMG-GT will make its official debut at the Paris Auto Show next month and will start shipping in the US in May of next year. However, this only applies to the AMG-GT S. The standard model will only go on sale a year later in 2016.
